Waves of citizenship, waves of legality
Activities of the European project WAVES OF CITIZENSHIP, WAVES OF LEGALITY, promoted by Fondazione Giovanni e Francesca Falcone and funded by EACEA (The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency) continue to be implemented. Participants coming from 10 European countries (Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Italy, FYRO Macedonia, Portugal, and Romania) will meet in Brussels from the 15th to the 17th of September to take part to a series of meetings with representatives of the main Institutions engaged in the fight against organized crime.
During this third stage of the project, two events took place First one, scheduled on the 16th of September, consisted in a meeting at Eurojust (The Hague) with Ms Teresa Angela Camelio, first assistant of the National Member for Italy. Second event included both a meeting with Paulo Rocha Trindade, Administrator at the Directorate for Legislative Works of the Committee of Regions in Brussels, and a visit to the European Parliament, on 17th September.
The project started to be implemented last May during commemoration of judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife and bodyguards killed by mafia. Its main objective is to share knowledge and experiences on legality at international level, through the enhancement of the role of civil society in fighting and preventing organised crime. It involves the participation of the following European organisations: Beyond Barriers (Albania), International Solutions (Bulgaria), Varna University of Management (Bulgaria), TSS-SMSI Leonardo Da Vinci” Buje-Buie (Craotia), Udruga Agencija Lokalne Demokracije (Croatia), International Educational Center GEMS (Czech Republic), Euroopa Projektijuhtimise Assotsiatsioon Portapolis (Estonia), Tallinn University (Estonia), Antigone (Greece), Fondazione Giovanni e Francesca Falcone (Italy), Associazione InformaGiovani (Italy), Sfera (FYRO Macedonia), “H2O” Associacao de Jovens de Arrouquelas (Portugal), Calistrat Hogas National College (Romania), Fundatia “Calistrat Hogas – 1911” (Romania).
Participants will be involved in activities aimed at promoting culture of legality and civil participation, and raising awareness on the role of citizens toward crime prevention. Project will be implemented along the ongoing year and will be completed on June 2016.
